About Me

I have been teaching music for over 20 years. I am a Certified Simply Music instructor. My students have won awards, played in honor bands, hold principal positions in local youth orchestras and have gone on to attend Ivy League schools.

I received my Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music from The Juilliard School. I also studied piano at these schools. I grew up in the Sierra Foothills and was a member of the Sacramento Youth Symphony Premier Orchestra. As a flutist I have performed as a soloist with the Sacramento Philharmonic, the Sacramento Bach Festival, the Diablo Symphony, the California Wind Orchestra, the Sierra Nevada Winds and the Grass Valley Early Music Society. I toured and recorded for Sony Classical with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas. I have also coached the SYS Chamber Music Summer Workshop. I have been featured in Sacramento Talent Magazine

Outside of teaching I am an avid beekeeper and baker. I was a quarter-finalist on ABC’s the Great American Baking Show season 2. I am also on the board of the

Sacramento Portuguese Historical and Cultural Society.
